Enolisa Premium and scanning: free limits, scan packs, and what Premium unlocks

A practical guide to Enolisa’s access model: what you can do for free, how the label-scan quota works (rolling window), how scan packs are consumed, and when Premium makes sense.

Enolisa Premium and scanning: free limits, scan packs, and what Premium unlocks

Why this article exists

People often ask:

  • “Is Enolisa free?”
  • “How many label scans do I get?”
  • “What does Premium unlock?”
  • “Should I buy a scan pack or upgrade?”

This article explains the access model in a way that matches the real product behavior.

Enolisa Free vs Premium (high level)

Free (core experience)

Free users can use Enolisa for the fundamentals:

  • Digital cellar (My wines): store and organize wines
  • Tasting journal (Tastings): log tastings with structured sensory inputs
  • Basic discovery and navigation

Some advanced features are limited or gated.

Premium (advanced experience)

Premium focuses on “advanced insight + acceleration”:

  • Advanced palate profile features
  • Personalized recommendation modules
  • AI-Lisa Pairings (food suggestions and optional recipes)
  • Exclusive analytics/insights
  • Unlimited label scanning (no freemium scan quota)

Label scanning access model (most important detail)

Enolisa label scanning is powerful, but it is also a resource-intensive feature. That’s why Enolisa applies a fair-use model for non-Premium users.

1) Free scan quota (rolling window)

Non-Premium users get a limited number of scans in a rolling 30-day window.

Key behavior:

  • The quota resets automatically when the rolling window expires.
  • The default free quota is 5 scans per 30 days (this value is configurable by Enolisa).

2) Scan packs (top-ups)

Users can purchase scan packs (consumables) to increase their available scans (for example 10 scans and 30 scans packs).

Key behavior:

  • Packs add to a separate “pack balance”.
  • Pack scans do not expire (they are consumed only when used).
  • If the free monthly quota is exhausted, Enolisa consumes scans from the pack balance.

3) Premium unlimited scanning

Premium users are not subject to the freemium scan quota and can scan without monthly limits.

How the app decides what to consume (simplified rules)

When a non-Premium user scans:

  1. If the user still has monthly free scans remaining, Enolisa consumes one free scan.
  2. If the free quota is exhausted but the user has pack balance, Enolisa consumes one pack scan.
  3. If both are exhausted, the app prompts the user to get more scans (pack purchase) or upgrade (Premium).

How to choose: scan pack vs Premium

Choose a scan pack if…

  • You only need scanning occasionally.
  • You want a predictable one-off top-up.
  • You don’t need the other Premium features right now (pairings, advanced insights, etc.).

Choose Premium if…

  • You scan labels frequently (building a cellar fast).
  • You want the full AI-Lisa + analytics experience, not only scanning.
  • You want to avoid thinking about quotas and balances.
